Artist description:

The painting is a prototype for the painting on canvas with the same name. I have worked in a coarse painting style with layers of thin paint, a little different from my usual, much denser painting-style. This work is an experimentation with this technique, that I will continue working with going forward. Notice, as the painting is handmade, it may have imperfections and some textures. This particular work is a little wavy due to watery paint (top of painting, see images below).
The painting stems from a series of works (”NEVER FELT LIKE THIS”) on the rose as a kitschy symbol of love, based on royalty-free stock images found online. This is a series that I have been working on during the fall 2024.

The paper is coated with acrylics and oils are not in direct contact with the paper.
